The Newcomers Club of Nevada County is a source of new friends and various activities for women who live in Western Nevada County. Our organization is socially, intellectually, and philanthropically involved in our community.
We welcome all women new to the area and those who have lived here their entire lives. You do not need to be new to the area as our name might indicate. We have many different opportunities for our members to be involved.
- Luncheons: There are currently 7 luncheons a year held at various locations in our community. The highlight is our annual Fashion Show, held in the spring. Local retailers provide clothing and our members are the models. Our Holiday Event is another favorite. Local entertainment is provided.
- Informed Women Series: Instead of luncheons, 3 times a year we provide this series. This new offering has proven to be a huge success. Current topics of interest for our members are covered. Recently we had speakers on computer scams, the Cal Fair Fire Insurance plan, crimes against seniors, and getting our affairs in order. We strive to educate and inform.
- Activity Groups: Based on member interest we have many subgroups. They meet to pursue individual activities as described on the Activities link on our site. Any member may start a new group. The frequency of the https://www.newcomersnc.org/about-us-2/?preview=truegatherings varies from group to group.
- Christmas Family Project: Since 2004 Newcomers has supported various non-profit organizations in our community. We currently support Helping Hands Nurturing Center, a small non-profit in Nevada County. We provide Christmas gifts from lists provided by parents for children that would have otherwise gone without. We have also given checks to other organizations to buy equipment for their facilities.
